Crawley were handed the best possible reward for its fourth-round win over Torquay when it landed a money-spinning tie against the 11-time FA Cup winners.
For Torres, who grabbed the headlines with his third-round winner against Derby, the trip to Old Trafford will be just as much of a pilgrimage as an opportunity to claim the biggest scalp left in the competition.
As a 21-year-old son of a brick factory owner, Torres saved for two years while playing non-league football in Argentina before he was able to buy a ticket to England, where he hoped he would get his big break.
He went on to play for non-league teams Molesey and Basingstoke Town and then moved on to Wycombe and Peterborough before signing for Crawley last summer.
But before he even kicked a ball in England, his first port of call was Old Trafford, where he watched Wayne Rooney hammer the sweetest of volleys past Shay Given in United's win over Newcastle in April 2005.
"It was the first game I'd been to over here. Rooney scored that amazing goal. I was in that stadium and I just couldn't believe my eyes," Torres, now 27, told Press Association Sport.
"I thought, 'Oh my god'. I can't believe it. From then on I always thought it would be a dream to play at Old Trafford and a few years later I will be there.
"So many stars have played there and have been through that tunnel.
"It's an amazing feeling to know that I will get to do that too."
