Veron makes regular trips back to Rome and recently the Lazio physio helped the United star in his recuperation from a heel injury. Cragnotti, whose Lazio side are in financial trouble, is a keen admirer of Veron and he told Planetfootball.com "He is the main objective and it would be useless to deny it. We will do everything possible but the last word is up to Manchester United".
The Italian rumour mill has suggested that Veron will join Juventus this summer with Lillian Thuram who recently admitted he would like to play for Manchester United, coming in the other direction.
In Spain it has been suggested thet Real Madrid want him as world record signing Zinedine Zidane has failed to impress. Arch rivals Barcelona are also believed to be interested and are reportedly ready to exchange Michael Reiziger and or Rivaldo.
Sir Alex is looking to shore up his defence and has been linked with Dutch international Reiziger vefore whilkst he is believed to be a keen admirer of Barca's Brazilian superstar Rivaldo.
United still insist that Juan Sebastian Veron will be a Manchester United player next season but with the persistant rumours it is looking less and less likely.
