Christian Eriksen has been handed his new shirt number by Manchester United ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The Dane completed his transfer to Old Trafford last week after choosing to leave Brentford at the end of his six-month contract.
Now that he's officially a Red Devil, Eriksen has been assigned a squad number.
The midfielder will take up the number 14 previously assigned to Jesse Lingard, who left in June following the expiration of his contract.
Prior to Lingard, number 14 belonged to Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, while the oft forgotten Zoran Tosic held it before the Mexican's arrival.
Eriksen has never used the number 14 shirt in his club career, though did briefly sport it with the Denmark national team back in 2011, but has since worn the number 10 for his country.
He wore the numbers 51 and eight at Ajax, 23 at Tottenham, 24 at Inter, and 21 most recently at Brentford.
Fellow new signing Lisandro Martinez has opted to take the number six shirt at Man Utd, forgoing the 21 he held at Ajax.
With Eriksen also passing on 21, hopeful fans suspect it is being reserved for transfer target Frenkie de Jong, who has worn the number for most of his professional career.
90min understands Man Utd and Barcelona have a broad agreement in place regarding a transfer, but it is being held up by De Jong's insistence on being paid £17m in deferred wages. Nevertheless, the Red Devils are willing to wait for the issue to be resolved.
