"It was never going to be decided in December. We'll be clearer on Jan 1 because in December you have a lot of decisions to make about rotation of the players, and it's not easy to come through that period.
"We've got a heavy programme – next Saturday (Aston Villa away), 26th (Wigan at home), the 30th (Reading at home) and the 1st (Newcastle away) – it's difficult but it always has been."
