Manchester United are set to announce their return to the United States for a pre-season tour next summer. Sir Alex Ferguson will hold a news conference in New York today with promoters Champions World LLC.Champions World backed United's US tour last summer.

Although United declined to confirm the reason for the news conference, two US-based football officials said the purpose was to announce another tour.

It is not yet clear if potential opponents will be announced at the news conference, the officials said.
