Following on from yesterdays Cesc Fabregas news here on manchester united-MAD, the Mail have published a piece putting some further flesh and credibility on ‘Fabregas to United’.
In it, Ian Ladyman has detailed that Fabregas has told friends in England that he would like to join Manchester United.
Though, at the same time, as Denzel said yesterday, Cesc is unwilling to incur the wrath of the Barcelona fans looking to leave.
A poll amongst Barcelona fans in Spain has come up with the result that 64% of them would not sell Fabregas to United. On the flip-side, that means that 36% of Barcelona fans would sell him, or are indifferent to his departure.
The Mail says “Cesc Fabregas has told friends in English football that he wants to quit Barcelona for Manchester United.
The Spanish midfielder is the subject of a fierce battle between United and Barcelona, with the Barclays Premier League champions having had a bid in excess of £30million turned down.
United manager David Moyes on Thursday told a press conference in Japan that the club’s pursuit of the former Arsenal star was ‘ongoing’ and it is understood that another bid is imminent.
But the fact that Fabregas has told friends in England that he wants out of the Nou Camp could finally give United the impetus they need.
It is understood Fabregas is attracted by the promise of regular football at United and he is keen to link up again with one of his old Arsenal team-mates, United striker Robin van Persie.
Fabregas also believes he can win an English title with United to go with the one he won in Spain’s La Liga last season. The 26-year-old won only an FA Cup and Community Shield during his years with Arsenal”.
