Roberto Carlos has issued an invitation to David Beckham as
Real Madrid’s interest in him increases.
Speaking to the Sun, the Brazilian defender said:
"Beckham is already the captain of England but he would be
regarded even more highly here, I don't care where in our
team Beckham would play. All I know is he's my friend and
he's one of the five great footballers in the world right
now.
"We have many great players already but he is one of the few
who could add strength to our team. And I know he would be
very popular with the fans.”
He feels that Beckham’s career will be enhanced by the move,
and that as a city Madrid has more to offer than Manchester:
"For me a player can only be considered truly world-class if
he has played for Madrid in his career. The weather and the
shopping in Madrid are better than Manchester and I believe
once the Beckhams tasted life here they would not want to
leave."
And Vicente del Bosque has already worked out exactly how he
would use Beckham if he did sign:
"If Beckham signs for us I know where I will use him in my
team,
"He is a player every team would like to have."
