CANTONA ON CELEBRITY WORLD CUP SOCCER

As if a summer of football due to the World Cup wasn't enough Sky have gone one step further by bringing celebrity football to our screens. However if Cantona is involved it may be worth giving it a few minutes time.

New Sky One director of programmes Richard Woolfe's first commission is a celebrity soccer tournament featuring the likes of Brian McFadden, Eric Cantona, Paul Gascoigne, Chris Evans and Chantelle.

Celebrity World Cup Soccer Six is to be broadcast on Sky One over the weekend of May 12-14, ahead of the football World Cup in Germany, which starts the following month.

Sky One is promising to have 160 celebrities on the show, including current and former professional footballers, stars of reality TV, the soaps and the entertainment world, musicians and pop stars.

Celebrity World Cup Soccer Six is to be made by independent producer Ruggie Media, which has worked with Mr Woolfe before in his previous job running Living TV, on Extreme Makeover UK and Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns.
