BURNLEY HAVE NO FEAR
BURNLEY skipper Steve Davis is begging Manchester United to roll out the big guns in the Worthington Cup tonight. But Davis reckons the Clarets are on the verge of another giant-killing and wants to slay Fergie's first team.
Davis, 34, roared: "I want United to play their best side because we don't have any fear.Manager Stan Ternent has told us 'Don't fear, but respect' - and once the game kicks off we will be wired up for it."
Davis added: "Ruud is a top-class striker in a rich vein of form and one off-the-cuff moment can kill you.His finish for the second goal against Basel last week was frightening and it seems if you give him a half-chance, it's in the back of the net.
Burnley boss Ternent is a big admirer of United chief Fergie.
Ternent said: "He is a good judge of people and tactically he is very bright. He also has a fierce desire - a will to win and a single-mindedness which you need to be a manager. The length of time he has spent at the top of our profession is astonishing.I know Alex very well and in my book there has never been a greater manager."
Fergie added :
"Stan Ternent has done a fantastic job at Burnley. Their performance in the last round against Tottenham was excellent. I watched the game and they did really well, especially in the second half. Guys like Stan have carved their career out of the lower end of the leagues. Everywhere they go, they do a great job. That's because they are great professionals, they love the game, they have knowledge and experience. These are the qualities Burnley have got out of Stan Ternent. He can manage at the top level, no question of that."
