Edwin Van Der Sar has warned the Premiership that Manchester United have more in their armoury than just Wayne Rooney.
“Wayne is world class and there is still a lot to come from him, but the team is not only Rooney.
“He played well at Newcastle at the weekend by scoring the first and making the second and the highlights, of course, go to the strikers.
“But I think the defenders and midfield are also playing a decent game. The main thing for me is the defence to play well and this is what the manager wants from us.
“Last year United lost too many games in the first 10 matches of the season. We didn't want to fall too far behind, so that is why we are very focused.”
From the Evening News:
Darren Fletcher believes United must ignore the Diego Forlan factor when the Reds face Villarreal in the Champions League.
"They proved against Everton that they're a good side with a lot of good players and we'll have to be at the top of our game to beat them.
“Obviously everyone is talking about the possibility of Diego coming back to haunt us, but we've just got to concentrate on doing well and getting the right result.
“I think we're reasonably happy [with the draw]. There won't be any easy games but the good thing is we haven't got too far to travel which can be an important factor.
"We're all really looking forward to the games and hopefully enjoying a good campaign.”
