Blackburn head Yorke chase

Sir Alex Ferguson conceded today that for Yorke, who hasn't been able to force his way into the side this season, must look elsewhere to resurrect his career.

"Dwight has got to move on," said Sir Alex.

"He's got to get a career elsewhere - that is obvious.

"He's done a great job for us and he will do a great job somewhere else."

Lancashire outfit Blackburn Rovers have been installed as early favourites, where he could team up with former teammate Andy Cole.

Middlesbrough will also be in the frame though, a move to the Riverside only broke down earlier in the season over personal terms.

In order to secure first team football though, Yorke may now be willing to accept a pay cut.

Paying Yorke's wages won't be a problem for Rovers though, thanks to the legacy of Jack Walker. Their manager Graeme Souness however has said that he will not be looking to sign players until their Premiership safety is secured.
