Pique:
"We never know what can happen in life, but today my future lies to Manchester United.
"It is an honour that such a club as Atletico Madrid are interested in me. It means that I am doing a good job here.
"Atletico are showing that they are part of the biggest clubs' group and they are a good option for every player.
"If things do not go well then I will plan my future out of Old Trafford. For the moment I am focused on working and improving every day. I have to remain patient.
"He (Ferguson) tells me that he trusts me. I have to gain experience and to continue to learn. Sir Alex always treated me like a son and shown that he wanted me to stay when Zaragoza came for me.
"But everybody knows that everything can happen in football."

* A snippet from the Sunday Mirror:
Manchester United stars went on a £250,000 gambling spree to celebrate teammate Rio Ferdinand's birthday.
Up to 20 including Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo splashed out up to £15,000 EACH on Wednesday night at Manchester's trendy 235 casino after the team's 4-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev.
"You'd expect people like that to be downing bottles of champagne - but Rio seemed happy with a bottle of lager" said one casino source.
"Not one of them left with the cash they arrived with," said the source. "They lost about £250,000 in all - definitely a good night for the casino."
