Liverpool beat Newcastle 2-0 in the Premiership with Craig Bellamy allegedly throwing punches although it is believed it was only a verbal exchange between Bellamy and the two teams.

Leeds have sacked Kevin Blackwell as their manager after a poor start to the season. Dennis Wise and Alan Curbishley are the favourites to succeed him.
