After last summer's predictions of a top six finish Keegan now claims that just staying out of the bottom three was a significant achievement.
"Last season was disappointing and we cannot get away from it. We could make all the excuses in the world but it is gone now. We retained Premiership status, that was vitally important, and now we have to kick on, Keegan told the Liar's house journal the MEN."
"When you looked at the sort of team we could put out there, the people we could put on the bench and the people who needn't bother getting changed some weeks because of sheer numbers, then we had every right to think we could have done well. We were in Europe and we had the new stadium, and all those things combined to made us all think - and I include myself in that - that we would have a very, very good season."
"Without naming names, I think we have a lot of players at the club who will benefit from this being their second season. I think we are capable of improving on last season, and I will be very disappointed if we don't, obviously - and I will probably be out of a job if we don't."
