The United striker sustained a hamstring injury and was substituted in the first half of Bulgaria's 6-1 thrashing by Nemanja Vidic's Serbian side at the Stadion Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday night and face's a race against time to be fit for United's trip to Villa Park on Saturday.
The Sun newspaper is today reporting that because he seems to be shouldering the blame for some inept performance's by Bulgaria in recent matches, Berbatov could be ready to quit the international scene.
"Dimitar said to me that, because people blame him for Bulgaria's bad performances, he is ready to quit the national team," his agent Emile Danchev is quoted as saying in the daily tabloid.
