Ananova take up the story:
A Channel 4 documentary claims the Manchester United star is
the British black community's greatest icon.
Black Like Beckham cites his "bling bling" taste in clothes,
cars and music as evidence that he is black in all but
looks.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: "The programme sets out to
prove that Beckham is Britain's most famous black man.
"He may really be white but he has borrowed and begged so
much from black culture that he should be considered black.
"We are trying to make a serious point - that although we
live in a multicultural society, Britain doesn't have
genuine black superstars like Michael Jordan. We have David
Beckham instead."
Producer Bruce Hepton added: "He behaves like he's black,
looks like he has stepped out of a rap video and wears all
the fancy jewellery and clothes."
