BARTHEZ IN SPIT ROW

Fabian Barthez has landed himself in trouble in France for spitting at a Moroccan referee while playing in a friendly. The ref Abdellah El Achiri has reported the incident a Marseille are taking disciplinary action.

El Achiri said: "I was a bit surprised to see Barthez as he had been replaced at the interval.

"He came up to me, insulted me and spat at me. I'm going to report it to my
federation and it will be up to them to make a move."
