According to the Spanish sports journal Marca, Barcelona President Joan Laporta has met with Ruud Van Nistelrooy's agent, Roger Lindse, to discuss a possible transfer from Manchester United to Barcelona.

Marca also claims to have contacted Barcelona officials who would not deny that the club is interested in acquiring Van Nistelrooy.

While Barca may be able to afford his salary, they may have to shell out truckloads of cash to convince Man Utd to part company with him.
