Asked by an Asian journalist if he fancied the assistant
manager’s job at Old Trafford, Bruce said:
“I am the manager of Birmingham City and I was offered a
five-year contract which I will sign when I get home.
“I haven’t felt so happy as I am here at Birmingham. It
would be really wrong of me to give it up now. I’ve shaken
hands on the contract and I intend to sign it and honour
it.”
Meanwhile Solskjaer doesn’t feel that the departure of
Carlos Queiroz will affect us this season:
“We are used to the assistant manager going off somewhere to
become a manager
"Mick (Phelan) has been there for the last two years so it
is not a new thing for us," he added. "We are just doing the
normal pre-season stuff, a bit of ball work, a few runs and
we just try to pick the pace up to where we left off.
"We have had a good rest and feel fresh and the lads are
enjoying it. We have to get the games in now."
