From The Mirror:
"How much did it hurt going out to Bayer Leverkusen last season?" After a long pause he said: "A lot."
The Dutch striker has not been having the best of seasons. A stuttering start in the League after a phenomenal 36-goal debut campaign for United last year, he knows a return to form in the Champions League will dispel the notion he's suffering Second Season Syndrome.
"They've sold those two players which is a big blow and they've just lost 6-2 to Olympiakos in the first game," he pointed out. So there couldn't be a better time to get their own back, could there?
"We want to put things right. But that 6-2 defeat means they'll be fired up for our visit.”
And on ‘Second Season Syndrome’:
(From The NOTW)
"I have not been surprised by the reaction.
"It is the normal thing that happens, especially if you have a season like me last year.
"I'm fully aware of that and I'm also well aware of my position at a huge club like Manchester United.
"I'm not the type to worry about what's going to happen — I have never done it before and I will never do it in the future.
"But I haven't changed anything about my game or my preparation — I'm still going out to play my own game like I always did before.
"I will always try to take the maximum out of every game."
