Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, he said:
"I would say I would like a break just because of your kids' faces when you walk out that door on Christmas Day, but it is not for me to say what happens. If I went on record saying I wanted a winter break, and I want to be off at Christmas everybody would be up in arms but, we will see what happens."
"The players haven't really spoken about it, but I think what is hard over Christmas is being away from our families and seeing your kids' faces when you leave them on Christmas Day. "That is the hardest part for me and I am sure it is the same for all the other dads who are working, but it happens in most jobs and sometimes that is the way of life."
