A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME?

This from The Mirror on some of the changes Glazer made at Tampa Bay when he took control of their 'football' team.

New colours?

The Buccaneers played in a gaudy orange-red-and-white outfit, but two years into Glazer's ownership, changed to a more serious red and "pewter".

United can expect: Out with the red-and-white, in with red and pewter - a colour that designers acknowledge will look great with jeans.

New club logo?

Along with the new colours, the Bucs ditched their slightly camp laughing cavalier logo and opted for a red pirate flag.

United can expect: No more boring club crest. Red Devil will be the key element on the new, modern logo.

New stadium?

One year after the new colours and logo, the Bucs jumped to a new stadium, complete with a life-size pirate galleon and firing cannons. United can expect: Glazer might be ugly, but he's not stupid. Old Trafford is the biggest club stadium in the country, and will remain that way. But it will cost a lot more to buy a ticket.

New manager?

Coach Sam Wyche was given a season to prove his worth after Glazer took over and was then fired. His replacement, Tony Dungy, was also dispensed with.

United can expect: Sir Alex Ferguson will not be impressed with a man who knows nothing of football. Glazer's arrival can only speed his exit.
