Carlos Queiroz, "There is a big gap between ourselves and Chelsea but I do not think we are that far away. Generally, we have done quite well against the big sharks this season, so we know what we are capable of.
"But we have also lost 18 points against the bottom teams, which is obviously something that must change. We need to put a question mark over everything; preparation, structure, players, everything. We cannot lie to ourselves. In football, small things can sometimes make a big difference. So, step by step we have to make a serious and honest analysis regarding everything that happened during the season.
"We need to reach the right conclusions, correct the mistakes when we made wrong decisions and come back strong to win the trophies as everyone expects."
Fergie says the same:
“Missing chances has happened throughout the season. That has to stop. Against West Brom recently it was ridiculous. I think we’ve dropped 20 points against the bottom clubs. We can ask, ‘Are we picking the right teams for these games?’ But we have a squad of players that are all well-paid internationals.
“The players have to accept the responsibility. In the Premiership, Chelsea have had a fantastic season. Even if we’d have been at the top of our form, we would maybe not have caught them. Getting the points record shows they have been exceptional. That means the FA Cup final is a big game for us now. We have won two trophies but that doesn’t compare to some of the other great teams in European football. We should be doing better in Europe. When we played AC Milan, we had eight chances and didn’t hit the target once. That’s killing us. This season has been disappointing. We hope we can win the FA Cup for the fans.”
